 📍Achill Sound: Begin at the Achill Island Hotel (Óstán Oileán Acla) and follow the Greenway signs.

 📍Mulranny Trailhead: Located just off the N59 toward Bangor or behind the Mulranny Park Hotel at the old Railway Station House.


Completion Time

Cycling: 1–1.5 hours

Walking: 2–2.5 hours


What to Expect

 The first 800m from Achill Sound lacks dedicated bike paths, so ride with caution.

 The trail passes through farmland, requiring cyclists to dismount at gates.


Enjoy panoramic views over Blacksod Bay as you traverse the dramatic landscape.


After 6 km, the trail heads south past Dánlann Yawl Art Gallery, where you’ll find a nearby coffee shop—perfect for a quick break. The terrain becomes more rugged as you cross a charming humpback bridge over the Cartron River and venture into open moorland.


Soon, you’ll spot the Nephin Beg Mountains across Bellacragher Bay as you approach the mainland. A gradual climb through lush woodland leads you to Mulranny Village, home to the old Railway Station House, now a hub for Greenway users offering bike rentals, toilets, and showers.
