Which e-bike, and what you'll save

Eight quick questions. We'll work out your Bike to Work tax relief at 2026 rates and shortlist five bikes that suit how you actually ride.

How the scheme works

  • Your employer buys the bike and deducts the cost from your gross pay, so you pay no income tax, PRSI or USC on that amount.
  • The exemption limits are €1,500 for an e-bike and €3,000 for a cargo e-bike, including safety equipment. Anything above the limit you pay yourself.
  • You can use the scheme once every four years, counted by tax year, and repay over up to 12 months.
  • Your saving is your marginal rate: 2026 rates are 20% or 40% income tax, 4.35% PRSI and 0.5–8% USC depending on income.
  • Your employer has to operate the scheme. Most Irish employers do.
